Nancy Lopez is an Austin based professional open format DJ who specializes in providing music for public events, private events, corporate events and weddings.
Hailing from Houston, TX as the youngest of seven children, Nancy's musical journey began early on in her life when she began taking piano lessons at the young age of 6 as well as singing in her church choir. Nancy quickly craved more instruments and taught herself how to play guitar and read music by the time she was 12. It wasn't long before she began writing her own music and playing her creations for friends and family any chance she got. When she wasn't performing, she was listening intensely to all types of music, hoping to absorb the experiences and perspectives of the musicians that she admired so much.
After college graduation in 2014, Nancy began DJing after she developed a proclivity for the warm and soothing sounds of 60s soul records. She quickly became engrossed in learning more about the origins of soul and funk movements and how it shaped much of the modern music that she had grown up with. Naturally, she then progressed into disco and became fascinated by the archives of the golden age of music from the 60s and 70s. It wasn't long before she was digging for rare tracks and curating extensive playlists of her favorites cuts to share with family and friends.
Nancy's influences come from a wide range of sources. As a Houston native, Nancy learned early on about the importance of Houston rap and how the chopped and screwed movement cemented the importance of the city to the culture and landscape of rap music around the world. It was a key component in her history to deeply connect to this local culture and the important role that black artists played to create a movement that would become larger than a city.
She was also heavily influenced by the tastes of her parents and her six older siblings. Nearly everyone in Nancy's family has a proclivity for music with her father being a talented singer and her mother being a gifted piano player and singer as well. Her father Lupe (a first generation American) taught her the ins and outs of a wide range of latin music and it's connection to the family's heritage and roots. This included countless listening sessions to Tejano, norteños, corridos, boleros and cumbia music. Her mother was more inclined to the classic stylings of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and big band music from the 40s and 50s.

Her older brothers were instrumental in teaching her the importance of classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Guns & Roses. Her only sister Patricia was engrossed in the female dominated stylings of pop and passed on her love for the greats like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey.
